Bookcases

I must really be on a book kick!  Today I thought I would show my bookcases after seeing so many pretty pictures around the blogland of bookcases.  Mine are the infamous Billy Bookcase from Ikea.  They have survived 2 moves and still look and funtion great.  I'm not one to organize by color but rather pleasure vs. school, meaning shelves are organized by novels or textbooks.  And let me tell ya, with 13 years of post grad education between the two of us, we have PLENTY of textbooks!

How do you organize your bookcases?

  1. I agree, those Billys sure take a lickin' and keep on kickin'! I actually move em around every 6 months and re-line the back of the bookcases with whatever leftover fabric swatches I have from discarded designs for my clients. That way they look fresh and updated with every move. Such a relevant post, thanks for sharing!

  2. If I organized them at all, it'd probably be a combination of theme and color. I love how yours look! I thought I preferred them by color, but the way yours mix together looks like art! Love it!

  3. Yours are nicely curated! I love the shots of bright green and the decorative objects scattered about. The styling looks relaxed but really stylish too.

  4. I love how you organized your bookshelf. Looks great. Ours is more...uhhh...haphazardly thrown together. We just ordered two new bookshelves and I can't wait to make them pretty like yours ;)

  7. So cheery, and organized, Amy! We've been eyeing those bookshelves for a while, but have the Target ones in the meantime.

P.S. Did you post any pics of your mermaid dress on your site? I would love to see one of your wedding pics!

  8. I must confess I'm not so much of a book person, I mean I do read a lot, but my kindle does the trick for me! There's a bookcase on my room but is used for shoes, is that even legal? ... Thanks for visiting, sweet words are always welcome!

  9. I have a mini bookcase in my room... full of textbooks! I wish I sold them while I'm in undergrad. Now that I'm in grad school, I actually keep most of them!

  11. I love the way that you integrate your boxes and figurines in with your books. I know that I still have plenty of books left from undergrad, and they're so colorful that they'd make for a bright room. I love Ikea!

I love the way you styled your shelves. Sometimes it is so hard to keep mine from looking cluttered.
