Not your granny's sofa

Call me crazy but I'm totally in love with all the velvet sofas that I have seen in magazines, catalogs and blogs.  To me a velvet sofa used to conjure up images of a sofa covered with a plastic slip cover and smelling like mothballs!  These images are anything but!  Do any of you have a velvet sofa and if so are they comfortable?

    @lily, I am so tempted to buy a velvet one as well! I have serious sofa envy! I hope you post a pic when you get it.

    I love the ones in the first picture, as well as the last two. I would think they are amazingly soft, I'm just wondering how they would hold up with two toddlers?

    My great grandma had a velvet couch in her apartment, but she's such an elegant lady that I've always thought of velvet couches as old ladyish but pretty at the same time, and not really my style - but the ones in the photos are lovely! I'm now a believer.
