Gallery Style

I've always liked the look of pictures hung gallery style on a wall.  Its a great way to use small pieces to cover a large wall.  Our home has a mismatch selection of art due to both sides of our families having artists as well as art picked up on some of our travels.  I pondered the idea of doing a gallery style wall behind our t.v. but in the end I decided to hang 2 Ikea Malm floating shelves side by side and create a gallery style shelf instead.  In my opinion the less cohesive the collection the better!  If any of you have gallery style walls, I would love to see pics!

First here is some inspiration.

My version...

Definitely a hodge podge, I mixed style of frame, style and type of art and size but I think it works.

  1. I agree - it DOES work. It looks great actually. I think having the 2 works with blue sort of book-ending everything helps. I've always wanted to do something similar, but lack the confidence for now (oh, and enough art, lol). I'll have to bookmark this to save as inspiration for the day I go for it!

  12. I love pictures on the wall, no matter if handing on a holdfast or leaned on a wall on shelf! Your version is so nice with paiting and photos, especially because you have some relationship to those (as I suppose) :)
